Goat Scouts 2004 Season Sign Ups

February 19, 2004 (9:36 am)

Do we have a team again this year....? This will be our 18th year (if you count 1999, when the Goats did not play)!

Please reply YES or NO to this message before end of day Friday.

Thanks,

-Miki

Keith Martin - "Miki,

Let me consult my crystal ball ...

...

... still too cloudy. ... Who can say if we'll have a team this year?

I can say, however, that I'm certain I probably think I'm likely to want to play.

In addition, herewith, I resign as Field Manager.

I hope that this strategic move will increase the recruiting and retention of fresh young Goats! I'm also hoping the Yankees will throw some big bucks my way - not that I am now, nor have ever been, a Yankees fan - it's just that they're throwing a lot of money around. My legal staff will let you know if I hear anything...

Go Goats!

:)"

Dave Herman -

"BA-A-A-A-A!!! er, YES!!!"

February 19, 2004 (10:19 am)

Dave Herman - "Wait a minute... That's a sheep's sound... Are we being led to a slaughter?

Bleat!!!"

February 27, 2004 (7:24 am)

Donna Bonorris - "*** Attention Goat Scouts ***

It's time to sign-up for the 2004 Spring/Summer Season. The cost is the same at $15 per player. Please bring cash or check (made out to Donna Bonorris) on or before Wednesday, March 17, 2004 (St. Patrick's Day) to one of the following:

Donna (3-4117) office: 301-350K (on vacation Mar. 3-10), M/S 301-320
Miki (4-0022) office: 198-301D, M/S 198-326

If you are new to the team this year, we will need your home zip code and age (20's, 30's, etc.)

The season will begin the week of April 19 and end the week of August 30. Miki and I will plan a couple of practices during the two weeks prior to April 19.

Anyone interested in the position of Field Manager, please let Miki and I know. We will interview all "qualified" candidates : )

If you are interested in new T-shirts this year, please let Miki know.

Go Goats!!!"

Wayne Zimmerman - "Donna----so does this mean we can re-open contract negotiations----Ian indicated he wanted to renegotiate his contract as well??"

March 31, 2004 (7:21 am)

Keith Martin (sent to Donna and Miki) - "Manager Dudes,

Could we schedule the practices for Tuesday or Thursday? I just saw Mr. Reeves this morning. Seems he's not getting enough aggravation from his job - and since he has a conflict with Wednesdays, I was hoping we could treat him like a Rookie even before the season begins..."

March 31, 2004 (7:30 am)

Donna Bonorris (sent to Miki, cc to Keith) - "Miki,

I can go along with this. I only have a conflict on Thursday, April 8. Let me know what you think and I can get an email going and post it on the Web.

PS. Has anyone expressed an interest in being the Field Manager? Chris Landry asked me about the job when he paid me."

March 31, 2004 (7:46 am)

Keith Martin (sent to Donna, cc to Miki) - "Donna,

He PAID you to be the Field Manager!!?? I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you! Miki, round up the usual suspects...

PP.S. If you were a Soprano instead of a Goat, you'd take his money, promise him the job, and then send Jose and Keizo to strike him out."

March 31, 2004 (7:52 am)

Donna Bonorris (sent to Keith, cc to Miki) - "Keith,

I guess I should be more specific... He paid me to play on the Goats, not to be Field Manager exactly...but you never know with Chris. Now if he had finally brought me the Biscotti from Boston, that would be another story. The Biscotti would definitely be considered a bribe!"

Goat Scouts 2nd Practice Announcement

April 4, 2004 (2:24 pm)

Donna Bonorris - "The first practice was well attended and Miki and I hope the second one is as well. It is scheduled for Wednesday, April 14 at 5:00 pm on H2. This is the field on the south side in the center. See map below or check it out on our web site.

Please let me know by noon, Wednesday, April 14, if you will be coming. Chris Landry is the new field manager, replacing Keith Martin who continues to play. Chris is in his probationary period, so be kind or not, your choice."

April 7, 2004 (2:57 pm)

Chris Landry - "Donna,

Interesting, It seems to me like I was already hired to a job I haven't applied for. Anyway, if you want me to do it, then I think Donna at 3rd would be a great change. The other teams would think we're up to something and never hit to her. Were going to psych them out! This will force all balls to be hit to the right side where we have plenty of talent. With this new strategy I can see our record this year at 17-0-1. OK, one tie, nobody is perfect."

April 8, 2004 (9:08 am)

Wayne Zimmerman - "Hey Donna----

Just thought I would let you know that I didn't blow off practice (particularly during a critical time like this when people are jockeying for starting line-up)----I have my daughter on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and it's still school/homework time. I say this because I ran into Bryan over at the Athenaeum (he almost ran me over in the parking lot hoping to put me on the injured list in hopes of not having any competition for short-stop----f--a--a--t chance of that ever happening, baby)----he also gave me a line of crap (that's technical terminology for "he made me feel guilty") over not showing up for practice. He did this as he was going to have a decadent dinner at the Athenaeum while I had just spent the whole day in a grueling, section retreat-----it was not nice, and certainly not appropriate behavior towards a Deputy Section Manager. I purposely copied Miki on this so she could make him feel guilty for him making me feel guilty. I will try to make next weeks practice----don't cut the line-up yet."

The Glove----

April 13, 2004 (12:48 pm)

Bryan Bell - "Let's be clear

AT Home : "Dad"....an assumption

AT Work: " ", Is that an elected or appointed position?

AT Play: "The Glove"(A Legend In His Own Mind), probably caused from above."

April 13, 2004 (1:54 pm)

Wayne Zimmerman - "All---Please note my responses below----The Glove

AT Home : "Dad"....an assumption -- if you had a teenage daughter you would recognize that "assumption" is actually "stark reality that often times borders on madness."

AT Work: " ", Is that an elected or appointed position? -- This was a hotly competed race in which only the cream-of-the-crop was selected----I think I see a kingdom on the horizon.

AT Play: "The Glove"(A Legend In His Own Mind), probably caused from above. -- This is a comment from a disgruntled employee--it should be ignored."

Goat Scouts Mid-Season Recruiting

June 18, 2004 (7:17 am)

Keith Martin - "Potential Future Goats,

We are always looking for new recruits and we'd love to have you join us. Carolina, please ask Al if he's ready yet - so far we've only made him offers he could refuse...

This is a fun league - real casual & lots of laughs. Have your agents call Donna or Miki if you're interested."

This was addressed to: Jessica Collisson and Carolina Maldonado

Missing Bat

August 6, 2004 (11:06 am)

Hmm. It was one of those hazy, ugly, August mornings in Southern California when I first heard the news. Cat Girl was missing! And foul play was suspected! I nearly fell out of my seat, but that might have been the gin talking.

Now that I was awake, and sure it wasn't all a bad dream, I tried to think. The last few weeks were a dizzying blur. I had crossed paths with some rough types all the way up the coast to Seattle. Nothing there but Joe so thick you could stand a spoon in. Then I holed up in Las Vegas for a few days. Lots of prospectors, few little nuggets. I managed to find a classy librarian who was quite good with the archives. Yet no sign of Cat Girl. Next I followed a hunch and went north to the Great Salt Lake. The locals were loose with the info, but only for stiffs. Fortunately, they had nothing on Cat Girl.

So now I'm back in the office, rubbing the stubble on my chin. The last time I saw Cat Girl, it was on the dance floor at the Arroyo Diamonds, a popular after-work joint in Pasadena. I spent the evening talking shop with Wonder Boy, so I didn't even give her a spin on the floor. Maybe she was upset and flew off the handle. Who knows?

Now every local cop and 10-cent pulp fiction gumshoe are on the case, looking for the missing dame. I think the key to the case is the mysterious Mr. Ishikawa. He's not saying much to help the investigation. Don't get me wrong, he says a lot; but you don't want to hear it. I've seen his type before... smooth-talkers who keep a girl on the side for a while, then dump them when the little missus finds out or another starlet rolls off the Blue Bus or the L.A. Limited. I'll bet he's got her locked in a closet or the trunk of his sedan.

I'm not officially on the case. And I'm still on Double Secret Probation myself. But Cat Girl was friend, and I'll nose around a little on my own to try to find her.

Ian Ruiz - "I am still out of commission. I sprained my ankle last weekend. I assume I still get my usual fee though as I belive that is spelled out in the contract. :)

-- Ian

P.S. I think Wayne and I both had that clause."

August 25, 2004 (7:51 am)

Donna Bonorris - "Ian,

What contract? I don't recall ever signing off on a contract! Have your agent contact my agent and we'll discuss fees!

By the way is Wayne your agent? He hasn't been showing up much this year and I think there was some clause regarding minimum number of games by player and agent and if Wayne's your agent, he hasn't been keeping up his end of the bargain!

Best wishes, though, on a speedy recovery as our final game of 2004 is on Tuesday, August 31."

August 25, 2004 (1:11 pm)

Wayne Zimmerman - "All----

I have literally just returned from a conference up at Ames only find these highly derogatory comments made about me--- did we drink a little too much coffee today?-----though I will not be able to play today since I came straight here from the airport (no gear baby!) I will CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE TEAM AND PLAY as usual per MY CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT."
