Tammy Andres

  • Nickname: They call me "vacuum" on my good days on the field
  • Favorite Position: Third base - since there's a lot of activity there - stopping balls that come down the third base line and a lot of throwing too, it's a good workout
  • Why a Goat Scout: I was recruited, rather persuaded to join the Goat Scouts by Donna. She just made it sound so good... and it is a lot of fun! I love softball. I am athletic enough to really get into playing without worrying about breaking a nail, but not crazy enough to sacrifice my body parts in a sport like volleyball where you throw yourself on the ground for a ball.

    Kareem Badaruddin

    Goat scouting is different from other thrills: I've done the Ironman, I've bicycled across states, I've run 30 marathons, I've been skydiving, I've eaten sushi from Ralphs. But nothing is quite like taking the field with the rest of the herd.

    I like to run. I like the outfield because I like to run. I like center field best because there are more places to run and I like to run.

    I like being a goat because often people worry about who was the hero and who was the goat. We don't have to worry about that, though, because we're all goats.

  • Stats: 6'4", 225 lbs., bats right, throws right, first season as a goat, played 1 year for TRW, played 1 year in JPL mixed league.
  • Favorite Position: Right Field because . . .While playing in a TRW league in 1984, I was playing right field. Our team had about a .500 record and this game we were ahead by 4 or 5 runs. The other team hit an easy fly ball to me which I totally misplayed. After that they began hitting all their balls to me in right field, at which time I got sort of overwhelmed and missed most of them. Our manager finally moved me to second base in the middle of the inning. It was totally humilating. Ever since then I have recurring nightmares that I'm playing right field and missing every ball that gets hit to me. I often wake up screaming (not really) and in a cold sweat. Perhaps I should talk to the team psychologist about this. Bryan Bell just recommended drinking heavily. I also like catching because I can be in the game without really being in the game. I also have not had any traumatic experiences catching.
