2004 Goat Scouts End of Season Beach Party

The 2004 Goat Scouts End of Season beach party was held on September 11, 2004, at Casa de Bell beach house in Capistrano Beach. It was hot, a little muggy and the ocean was very inviting. The weather was most unusual for September as Miki typically worries whether the sun with come out or not. On this day it was not a problem. Some people who don't normally venture in to the water, went in just to cool off. Kevin brought his boogie board and so did Keizo's kids. Dave borrowed Bryan's brothers' kayak and was gone for at least an hour, if not longer. Several of us kept track of him as he sped towards the sailboats, but eventually lost him in the horizon. He eventually returned just a bit south of the beach house. Kevin went out to greet him and as luck would have it the kayak tipped over and Dave lost his sunglasses!

On shore, Keizo and all the kids dug a hole to try and trap water for what he called a jacuzzi. They used boogie boards to try and keep the water away while the hole was being dug. Next Kevin went to Miki and Bryan and asked for a bigger shovel. They were very industrious but I don't think they ever achieved their vision, but they sure had fun. Keizo's youngest, Scott, wasn't too sure about the sand or the water. However by the end of the day, he seemed to come around and enjoyed the beach.

Football was on t.v. but no one seemed to pay any attention. Kevin conned Miki and Bryan in to bringing him down for the weekend as his parents were in Washington DC and this was one party he didn't want to miss. He entertained us all especially when he was trying to guess everyone's age. Don't know if he was ever accurate, but it sure was fun watching him guess.

There was plenty of snacks including crackers, chips and sushi. For dinner, Bryan barbequed carne asada, while Miki made rice, beans, heated tortillas and salad. There was also plenty of delicious dessert. No one went home hungry!

Attendees included: Miki, Bryan, Kevin, Pete, Donna, Ian, Kourosh (Ian' friend), Beth, Marc, Dave, Keizo, Nai-Len, Keizo's children Sean, Sharlene and Scott, Steve Wood and Jim Donaldson.
