The 2003 Goat Scouts End of Season beach party was held on September 13, 2003, at Casa de Bell beach house in Capistrano Beach. You could not have asked for more beautiful weather. Miki was a little nervous when the morning started out a bit overcast. It broke up early and the sun shined down on those who came. Some brave souls even ventured in to the water. Kevin brought his boogie board and looked like he was having a ball. Tracy's dad, Frank, took Brittney in to experience the waves. Others only managed to dip their feet in.
Football seemed to be the order of the day as the guys played catch. Beth got in on it, but struggled to keep Kevin from tackling her. Beth's friend Greg, finally showed Kevin the proper way of tackling! Frank keep encouraging the guys to try and throw the ball farther and farther. At one point Kevin was sent down about 5 houses and then no one threw the ball to him. He was not happy!
Tom mixed up some great Margueritas and for snacks there was chips, salsa and quesadillas. Bryan barbequed chicken and beef, while Miki made rice, beans, heated tortillas and salad for dinner. There was also plenty of delicious dessert including homemade carrot cake made by Lloyd and his granddaughter Jackie.
The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the Goat Scouts MVP award to Beth. A surprised Beth was selected, in this her rookie season, for standing in the batters box for what seemed like an eternity, before finally getting a hit. The Goats are so proud of her persistence and staying power. Lesser players would have given up and thrown in the towel. Congratulations and enjoy displaying the trophy!
Attendees included: Miki, Bryan, Tracy, Brittney, Scott, Frank, Barbara, Tom, Kevin, Pete, Donna, Mike, Lloyd, Judy, Steve, Christine, Alison, Beth and Greg.
